Business Research on the Gym Industry
Question: Discuss about the Business Research on the Gym Industry. Answer: Introduction The Gym industry offers people with facilities that are aimed at health management. The market analysis provides a researcher with accurate information regarding the market base in which a company operates. Corporate body fitness creates an important industry in the business environment. The Gym industry has significantly benefited from the recent consumer advancements towards maintaining an improved health (Cao and Peng, 2007, p. 11). In this report, the management of a particular Gym has conducted a market survey of its customers to perform a suitable analysis and propose a change to the business. The Gym recommends that baby boomers should sign up for health club memberships as they grow more health- conscious due to their age. The aim of the market survey is to find out whether the customers are interested in the change. Literature Review The Gym industry is one of the most competitive sectors as the Gym operators are faced with new market realities such as demographic changes, slowed growth in the economy, and advancement in technology. Many Gym firms seek to increase maintain the market base; this forces the management to assign more efforts in customers satisfaction by offering quality health services (Piazzesi and Schneider, 2009, p.145). When customers get satisfied with the Gym services, they express their contentment through sharing positive experiences to others; this serves as a channel for advertisement. The manner through which gyms are managed needs a change. People aged between 20 to 64 years form the largest demographic composition where Gym business thrives. As a result, the number Gym businesses have raised since more people value body fitness as being integral to their proper health maintenance. The rise and growth of Gym industry have created competition in the industry, surviving in the sector needs some change (Smith, Ng, and Popkin, 2014, p.130). Many customers have substituted to large and all inclusive associations where membership is given at a cheaper cost. Customers are the key determinants of whether a business would thrive or will not. Customer satisfaction relates to the age factor. The primary aim of Gym club managers attract potential and retain the current clients. The management needs to understand the needs and demands of the customers and to reduce services costs since this establishes a strong bond and customers loyalty to the services of the club (Streiner, 2013, p.110). Other than the age factor, the level of education and sex of an individual determines what kind of services that customer prefers. With the current health problems such as obesity, many people are going to the Gyms to do exercises which would help them reduce weight and maintain good health. Customer Survey Data Analysis From the literature review, some of the factors affecting customer satisfaction of the Gym services includes age, gender, and the level of education. The statistical survey of this study constitutes of all men and lady customers used to refer to physical body fitness Gym, all aged between 20-64 years. Two Categorical Variables Variables Independent (x) : Age Dependent (y) : Customer Satisfaction Y = a(x) Age (x) Customer Satisfaction (y) in % 20-29 95 30-39 96 40-49 97 50-59 98 60 above 99 Customers are of different age and the level of tastes and their preferences vary on their age group. People aged between 20-29 years have a feeling that the services offered at the Gym do not satisfy their needs fully and therefore supports the management's initiative to implement changes in the subscription to different health fitness groupings. The more aged people, especially above 60 years, do not see the essence of change since their confidence level to the Gym services is high. The trend of satisfaction increases with increase in age, this shows that the Gym management should offer subscription services to the young people below 30 years. One Categorical and One Numerical Variable Variables Age (x) Mean S.D 20-29 24.5 3.223 30-39 34.5 3.433 40-49 44.5 3.542 50-59 54.5 3.672 60 above * 3.71 Gender (x) Total Number/1000 Mean % S.D Male 550 55 0.765 Female 450 45 0.665 Graphical Analysis From this case, it is evident that more men are subscribed to the Gym services when compared to the number of female members. There is a significant relationship between gender and customer satisfaction for the high number of men shows that they are better of than women when it comes to the quality of services satisfaction (Bryman and Bell, 2015, p. 100). The feedback obtained from the women would apparently indicate that there is a need for changes to subscribe to better services whereas to men, change will not be so noticeable since their confidence level is above the sampling error of 0.5. Two Numerical Variables Ages Gender of Customers 20-29 30-39 40-49 50-59 Above 60 Number of Men 200 140 100 70 40 Number of Female 150 120 80 60 40 Graphical Analysis Based in this case, the survey relies on two binary variables, the age of male and female customers who attend the Gym. As observed, the number of men is higher than that of women clients who visit the Gym Club (Brooks and Hestnes, 2010, p.13). Also, the aged people attend Gym services in a lesser number than the youth. The study shows that there exists a significant relationship between the age factor and gender factor to the level of customer satisfaction. Managerial Advice Based on the survey data and analysis in the above section, the management needs to implement some changes in the manner by which they offer services to their customers. The study has examined customers satisfaction to the Gym services on age and gender factor (Zikmund, 2013, p. 200). The club is composed of members of varying ages and gender whose tastes and preferences on the Gym services differ widely. The Gym management should use gender segmentation strategy to offer services. As observed from the data variables above, people aged between 20-29 years have less confidence level in the quality of services provided by the management to them (Smith and Osborn, 2009, p.10). The management should design a unique program that will be subscribed by its customers to have access to all services so that under such program all the demands are met. Also, when it is coming to imposing a change in programs pertaining the aged people above 60 years, the management should initiate coaching and tuition programs that educate the aged on how to operate Gym facilities on their own (Lesjean and Huisjes, 2008, p.76). However, this would need additional subscription costs to this program. As observed, since the number of females attending the Gym are lesser than that of men, the management should initiate aerobic programs desired to make women reduce weight so that their confidence level rises. Also, this would be at a given cost. Imposing these changes would assist the management to improve the Club's productivity. Survey Analysis about Managerial Advice The total number of customers involved in the market survey were 1000. Based on the information given to the management that they should improve the quality of services with respect to gender needs and customers age factor, and at a given subscription cost, some clients support the change while others do not. The changes only favor people aged between 20-29 years and those aged above 60 years old. In between these two age brackets are other age gaps whose desires are not captured in the changes to be implemented. The population of people between 20 and above 60 forms 570customers and this creates exactly 57 percent of the Gym clubs market share. Merely 57 percent of the customers support these changes, and this shows confidence level is high. Only 43 percent of the customers do not support the change for it will not benefit them in health care maintenance. Conclusion Customers are the most important stakeholders of the business. Given that the clients are treated as the most valuable assets of the firm, the management always tries to satisfy their needs and demands in the most efficient manner. The Gym sector is affected by various factors which determine its success and this incude age, gender, and education level. The confidence standards of the customers on the services offered in the Gym affects its overall productivity. Therefore, Gym clubs should respond to customers needs and demands and always seek to provide quality services to them as at and when required. Abuse of Statistics The samples used in statistics may not be representative. It assumes that the feedbacks collected from sample population represent the opinions of the total population in a given industry (Brooks and Hestnes, 2010, p. 12). However, this is false as the samples cannot be fully representative of the feelings, ideas, opinions, and attitudes of the other people not sampled. The sample sizes used are only based on the entire population estimate. Statistics use sample sizes which are estimates of the population in a given setting (Donner and Zou, 2010, p.56). The exact number of individuals composing a community cannot be accurately known, and thus this assumption abuses the importance of statistics. Limitations of Quantitative Research Quantitative research requires large sample sizes. However, due to inadequate resources, the large-scale research methodology gets impossible. Also, the researcher may lack enough skills to conduct the research with the insufficient resources. Quantitative research is tough to analyze (Castro et al., 2010, p. 345). This is because the research methodology never fits properly in all standard categories. Further, the findings of the investigation cannot be generalized to the study community in the given sector (Gym). There is an improper representation of the targetted population. This hinders the researcher from achieving the set goals of the survey since possible miscalculation is highly expectable (Brooks and Hestnes, 2010, p. 9). How to Write Natural Dialogue for Narratives
How to Write Natural Dialogue for Narratives Writing verbal conversations or dialogue is often one of the trickiest parts of creative writing. Crafting effective dialogue within the context of a narrative requires much more than following one quote with another. With practice, though, you can learn how to write natural-sounding dialogue that is creative and compelling. The Purpose of Dialogue Put simply, dialogue is narrative conveyed through speech by two or more characters. Effective dialogue should do many things at once, not simply convey information. It should set the scene, advance action, give insight into each character, and foreshadow future dramatic action. Dialogue doesnt have to be grammatically correct; it should read like actual speech. However, there must be a balance between realistic speech and readability. Dialogue is also a tool for character development. Word choice tells a reader a lot about a person: their appearance, ethnicity, sexuality, background, even morality. It can also tell the reader how the writer feels about a certain character. How to Write Direct Dialogue Speech, also known as direct dialogue, can be an effective means of conveying information quickly. But most real-life conversations are boring to read. An exchange between two friends may go something like this: Hi, Tony, said Katy. Hey, Tony answered. Whats wrong? Katy asked. Nothing, Tony said. Really? Youre not acting like nothings wrong. Pretty tiresome dialogue, right? By including nonverbal details in your dialogue, you can articulate emotion through action. This adds dramatic tension and is more engaging to read. Consider this revision: Hi, Tony. Tony looked down at his shoe, dug in his toe and pushed around a pile of dust. Hey, he replied. Katy could tell something was wrong. Sometimes saying nothing or saying the opposite of what we know a characterà feels is the best way to create dramatic tension. If a character wants to say I love you, but his actions or words say I dont care, the reader will cringe at the missed opportunity. How to Write Indirect Dialogue Indirect dialogue doesnt rely on speech. Instead, it uses thoughts, memories, or recollections of past conversations to reveal important narrative details. Often, a writer will combine direct and indirect dialogue to increase dramatic tension, as in this example: Hi, Tony. Tony looked down at his shoe, dug in his toe and pushed around a pile of dust. Hey, he replied. Katy braced herself. Something was wrong. Formatting and Style To write dialogue that is effective, you must also pay attention to formatting and style. Correct use of tags, punctuation, and paragraphs can be as important as the words themselves. Remember that punctuation goes inside quotations. This keeps the dialogue clear and separate from the rest of the narrative. For example: I cant believe you just did that! Start a new paragraph each time the speaker changes. If there is action involved with a speaking character, keep the description of the action within the same paragraph as the characters dialogue. Dialogue tags other than said are best used sparingly, if at all. Often a writer uses them to try to convey a certain emotion. For example: But I dont want to go to sleep yet, he whined. Instead of telling the reader that the boy whined, a good writer will describe the scene in a way that conjures the image of a whining little boy: He stood in the doorway with his hands balled into little fists at his sides. His red, tear-rimmed eyes glared up at his mother. But I dont want to go to sleep yet. Practice Makes Perfect Writing dialogue is like any other skill. It requires constant practice if you want to improve as a writer. Here are a few tips to help you tune your ear. Start a dialogue diary. Practice speech patterns and vocabulary that may be foreign to you. This will give you the opportunity to really get to know your characters.Eavesdrop. Carry a small notebook with you and write down phrases, words, or whole conversations verbatim to help develop your ear.Read. Reading will hone your creative abilities. It will help familiarize you with the form and flow of narration and dialogue until it becomes more natural in your own writing.

America Needs A National Health Care System or Insurance Program Research Paper
America Needs A National Health Care System or Insurance Program - Research Paper Example Almost fifty million people lack health insurance, another one more million have problems in their payments, and they are deducted .Almost 45000 die each year for lack of treatment. The infant mortality rates and general death rates rise dangerously each year. This the main reason for the need for a national health care service. Americas lower life expectancy America has thus achieved lower life expectancy, it is evident because of unstable security because of use of lax gun and poor healthcare planning, the ranking of the American men is the lowest with 75.6years and their women 80.7 years, and many reports come from the National Research Council and Institute of Medicine. The major contributor to the lower lifespan in America is the lax gun rules (Lewis 83). The shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school made the lax guns to cater for the blame. The many violent deaths that America experiences have led to the shorter life span in America. Another reason for the lowering of the lifesp an of Americans is the violent deaths that they experience. In every 100000 residents, the United States of America has six violent deaths. The report from the National Research Council and Institute of Medicine says that the united state should not ignore the deaths because they own a lot of money. According to researchers, America is the leading state in violent deaths. This may be because of ownership of guns by citizens. So many citizens own guns illegally. Despite the short lifespan caused by the violent deaths and lax guns security, the consumption of large amounts of calories by the Americans that causes diabetes and involvement in alcohol and many accidents also cause deaths. Consumption of many calories results to diabetes hence early deaths in the United States (Uradnik, Lori, and Sara 109). With the invention ARVââ¬â¢s, AIDS still shorten the lifespan of people, because ARVââ¬â¢S do not eliminate the disease, it just reduces. There are three major causes summed toge ther. This includes the health care system, bad behavior and social and economic factors. Results of American fragmented health care The keeping busy of the emergency rooms is a challenge that has taken long. A report has said that Americans that are un-insured, visit the hospital many times compared to the patients who are insured (Lewis 54). Out of the 354 million, only 42% doctors are there to attend to them, this concludes the fact that there is shortage of the doctors. Another study was in spite of having an increase in the use of MRI in the ER and CT. There is no any increase in the diagnosis of the life-threatening conditions. Doctors have reduced the use of hospitals by eliminating surgery, reducing high-priced diagnostic tests with no improving of the results, removing admissions for episodes that are a cute in chronic diseases and stopping the routine of using emergency rooms for primary care. Field argues that in the time when the admissions of patients will stabilize and the hospitals financed, the hospital must attain value of importance (Simmons 76). That will be time that the medical department will take its role to ensure the practice of provision of quality services, they will also locate niches where the hospital can also make savings and to work out ways in which virtual care is delivered. They would also invent organizations accountable for care and many more organizations that will help connect patients, payers, and the sponsors. It calls for

To encourage research and development can determine the success of business in the market place - Essay Example ion, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies invest highest in the R&D area and gain most significant advantage from the resultant invention or discovery, if successful. Thus, pharmaceutical companies practice well-designed strategies for greater functioning in the research area. In the present study, we thirty-five subjects of diverse pharmaceutical background and having their hometown as UK participated in this study. There were 19 males and 16 females with the mean age of 37.6 years. The sample predominantly consisted of pharmaceutical professionals who have been actively involved in at least one research related project. In addition to a short introductory information items, the subjects completed all the essential items as presented in the ââ¬Å"Know Pharmaceutical Researchâ⬠(KPR) questionnaire. It consisted of 21 items with dichotomous (yes or no) response choices. The KPR questionnaire was administered for collection of the thoughts, ideas, experiences, and knowledge and believes as pertinent to pharmaceutical research. It is essential to note that the participants were contacted by means of email notification(s). The same sequences of events were repeated for data collection from 35 professionals of India with the mean age of 41.2 years. The results revealed that the participants considered investment in the area of R&D in the pharmaceutical companies as an important step for the monetary profit of pharmaceutical business. Quite a significant number of pharmacy professionals highly recommended investment in the area of R&D department. The professionals in both India and UK almost equally realized the benefit of investment in the R&D department. Thus, the reason for less investment in the R&D area in India as compared to that in UK can be ascribed to the relative lack of monetary sources. The present thesis is an attempt to respond with the most scientific base to the questions pertinent to the encouragement in the research and development area as

Movie Run Lola Run Film Studies Essay
Movie Run Lola Run Film Studies Essay Cinema that interests me is cinema about openings, unresolved questions and experiements, â⬠¦ without refusing chaos, chance, destiny or the unexpected. This quote by Tom Tykwer (Composer), epitomizes how he is trying to explore the range of possibilities in film. Also making it distinctive to draw in the audience by having open ended possibilities in film. The movie Run lola run directed by Tom Tykwer and the red tree written by shaun tan, both establish two core ideas which are chance and time. The use of a variety of techniques create distinctively visual images that are highly distinctive. Chance is an idea which is clearly portrayed in both texts. In the movie, Run lola run, the director uses flash forwards to empitomize this idea of chance. The audience witnesses the lives change for the people that lola bumbs into on her journeys, and how their lives change each time to how lols life changes. This is seen with the lady with the pram that lola encounters each time as she beggings her run. This symbolises the unpredictability of life. Lolas destiny in each three stories, so do the lives of the people that she sees. The use of the fast non-digetic sound of the clicking of the camera, allows the audience to feel a sense of urgency. This reflects the idea of fate, that our choices, circumstnces and actions are all connected with those whom we encounter in life. The audience gains a sense of knowledge and is made aware that their life is unpredictable and their actions affect others. Furthermore, the use of characterisation is evident in the main character Lola. The idea of using a female as the protagonist of the film is what makes this post-modern film so distinctive to all the other films in todays society. As a result, lola feels at time, that she isnt in control of her destiny and uses her loud, high-pitched scream to change that. The reoccurring digetic sound of lolas scream is mainly evident in the casino scene, where there is a close-up on Lolas face as she screams to control her destiny with the ball to land on the number 20, as she plays the ultimate game of chance. The audience is made to feel anxious as the wait to see the result of her scream. Hence the idea of chance is also presented in the picture book, The red tree. The metaphore the world is a deaf machine, is used in conjuction with the dull colours used to portray that the persona, the little girl, feels unheard and fears that her destiny will be to end up alone and not belong in society. The reader is automatically drawn to empathise with the persona as how a little girl can be unheard and be left all alone. Thus, the use of composiotion layout is used in the middle of the picture book. Where the vector image is a game board which symbolises chance and many paths, also it is evident that the girl in the corner of the page is holding a dice, this dice represents the idea of fate. This illustrates to the reader that the persona believes that her life is a game and also she is unsure of the future. All the above techniques used in both the film Run lola run and the picture book the red tree influence the idea of chance and the use of visual techniques are what makes these texts both so distinctively visual. Time is an important idea in both texts which is constantly reoccurring. At the beginning of the movie run lola run, the opening credits, an animated lola is seen running towards a clock as the sound effects of tick tocking sounds. Allow the audience to be aware of the importance of time in this film. Hence, the close upshot of the pendukm grand-father clock in the opening credits, helps aid the importance of time. The reaccuring motif of clocks and the number 20, 20 minutes to save mani, generates drama and exicitment, also reminding the audience of lolas race against time. Furthermore, the audience is with lola in her journey for the real time of 20 minutes. This gives the audience the knowledge of what lola actually completes in 20 minutes. This technique is what makes this post-modern film so distinctively visual. Furthermore, the use of split screen image is constantly reaccuring in the tri-part structure of the film. This is shown in the multiple scences between mani, lola and the town clock, as lola competes against time to get to mani and save him. This is used to engange the audience and make them wonder what is going to happen next and allow them to wonder if she will make it in time. Simliarily the idea of time is present in the picture book, the red tree with the reoccurring motif of the red leaf. The persona at the start of the novel doesnt pay attention to it, however towards the end of the book she notices it and it is evident that a smile begins to form on her face. This is used to symbolise to the reader that it takes time for a good outcome to occur also that in ones life timing is everything. Furthermore the repition of and wait.. symbolises that the persona is just waiting for something to happen. This makes the reader feel sympathetic to the little girl. This visual technique is used to make both texts so distinctively visual. Also the different events in each of the characters life, helps shape the texts to be unique. In conclusion, the movie run lola run and the picture book the red tree the use of many visual and aural techniques has created texts that are portrayed to be distinctively visual.
